Josh Young, a 2025 candidate for the KCK School Board, is a proud product of USD 500 with deep generational ties to Wyandotte County. As a fifth-generation resident and graduate of Washington High School, Josh’s journey began in USD 500 classrooms—from Lindbergh Elementary to Coronado Middle School. His heritage reflects a century of local commitment, with family roots tracing back to the Argentine District in the 1920s. With a Master of Social Work and ongoing doctoral studies, Josh Young brings both lived experience and professional expertise to his candidacy, grounded in a lifelong connection to USD 500 and believes all students and citizens deserve to be represented and reflected in district leadership.

Great-Grandparents Immigrated from Mexico in 1919. Great-Grandpa Sanchez worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, which brought the family to the Argentine District of KCK in the late 1920s.

Grandma Carmel “Carmen” Sanchez-Young, and siblings, attended the Clara Barton School that was located in Argentine, KCK. She met my Anglo Grandpa Chancy Young, whose family lived across the street from the Sanchez family.

USD 500 KCK School Board Issues

USD 500 KCK Should be in Compliance with Executive Orders and Federal Directives/Policies

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972

Students should not be forced to share their sex-separated bathrooms, locker rooms, and/or other intimate spaces with individuals on the basis of their self-proclaimed "gender identity."

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

School district employees Should notify parents about students request to use different pronouns, or a different name in school, and Should Not share that information without the consent of the students’ parents.

No Societal Experiments

  • No DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion)
